Conventions of Crime.

Conventions of crime address the viewer on what type of film it is by using particular shot types, sound tracks and use of characters. Mise en scene is used as the type of props and costumes used would be guns, usually dark clothing for the bad character and a cop type costume for the good character. This relates to the crime aspect as people committing crimes would be likely to own weapons and destory anything or one who gets in their way.

There's several different types of crime films the audience expect to see. These are, old fashioned black and white noir films, American gangster, detective, spy, police and action. The plots are normally based around those six options. Here's a video of a noir crime film.

Use of camera angles, there may be close ups of the characters to show their emission as well as long shots to establish the location as well as what the characters are doing, if the bad character was trying to crack a safe we would have a long shot to show where they are and a close up of the safe and the characters face to show what is going on.
